This painting shows a woman enjoying a painting by Karel Appel. His work is rooted in the expressive freedom of the CoBrA movement, which he co-founded and championed.
His art is characterized by direct, spontaneous expression, seeking to capture raw emotion and a sense of primordial chaos in his paintings drawing inspiration from children's art, folk art, and jazz improvisation.
To me the bulls fighting represents the utter nonsense of fighting amongst each other.
