In this painting you see a man enjoying a pop art painting entitled Girl With Tear by Roy Lichtenstein. During the mid-to-late 1970s, Lichtenstein began parodying and honoring early 20th-century masters like Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and Pablo Picasso in his signature comic book style.
The central motif—a giant, isolated eye shedding a single tear—is a direct nod to classic Surrealist imagery, which often used displaced body parts to create dreamlike, unsettling landscapes. By placing a realist figure within this space, the scene creates a compelling mix of Surrealism, Pop Art, and Realism in return honoring Roy Lichtenstein in my own way.
