This painting depicts a man enjoying a painting by Will Barnet(1911–2012), a prominent American visual artist and teacher.
Barnet viewed painting as a near-religious and meditative experience. Rather than creating an exact optical replica of life, his goal was to find the "hidden meaning" beneath the surface of things seen.
